Overview

The client was rolling out a new suite of software programs to a wide technical team. Each program would have its own dedicated training module, but it was not immediately clear how the seven new programs meshed in a work stream.

Project Goal

Corvum Learning & Design was asked to create a brief introductory module to introduce the suite, explain the basic relationships between the software programs, and excite the users about the transition.

Approach

As each piece of software would be used by different teams at different stages of a work flow, a relevant story was needed to show the average worker where their software fit in. We chose to write A Day In The Life scenario that covered a typical incident and response process.

We used simple interactive animations to make the content engaging. As the users progressed through the realistic scenario steps, the buttons changed to indicate completion. The user must manually navigate through the slildes, but navigation is clear and guided.

Course Challenges and Solutions

Seven new software programs were going to be used by five different roles across distributed teams. Some roles would be using multiple programs. To clarify roles, we used bright, accessible friendly color coding to through the entire presentation to reinforce each role.

We initially had icons with generic faces representing each role, but ultimately decided that was unneeded clutter that did not match the overall clean aesthetic or add more value than the simple color bars.

Impact on the Organization

Instead of blindly dumping a complex new set of programs on the client's teams, Corvum Learning & Design created the necessary context for each employee to understand which of the additional training programs were required for their role, reinforced by their prior knowledge of company incident response.
